Several more schools start the season off with the new feild turf in place and ready to be played on...
Last Week showed all of us city section followers that our teams are really struggling to stay in a class with the Pac 5 teams from the southern section. Starting off with Thursday nights game between Narbonne and Tesoro where the Gauchos dropped one by the score of 22-13 while at the same time the University wildcats where getting thrashed by the Los Alamitos Griffins 56-0, it was 49-0 at the half. Moving on to Friday night the Carson Colts who started the season with a win over Santa Ana Mater Dei have sinced dropped games to Long Beach Poly and Rancho Santa Margarita and will host Orange County powerhouse Mission Viejo tonite at 700pm. Has the city section become a punching bag for the southern section teams. Something will have to be done in order for our older traditionally stronger teams such as Carson, Narbonne,Venice, Taft and others to start making a better showing against these Orange and Ventura County schools, if we are ever to regain the respect once held by the CITY SECTION.
In other Action the Westchester Comets held off a fired up Locke High team to capture the victory 41-20 friday afternoon. Westchester is off to there best start in years. When asked about the wins coach Seka Edwards replied, "we're just trying to get it done".
